  1. I really like this idea! Thanks for the specific ideas and tips. In thinking about making it work for my family, I need to find a way to include God. He’s the main man in our house! I don’t want to over complicate things by adding a fifth element, but at the same time I don’t want to take out one of your four elements. Does anyone have ideas of how/where to incorporate a spiritual facet to this routine?

    1. Hi Jen! I know of a few families who’ve changed the “Mind” category to be broader than just educational activities so it also can include things like meditation, deep breathing, religious practice, and so on. If that doesn’t sound like a good fit, you can always try adding a spiritual category in and see how it goes!

Maybe your kids could come up with a fun mnemonic device to help them remember, kind of like how in elementary school we all learned about “Roy G. Biv” to help us remember the colors of the rainbow. :-) You can also have them make a poster of the one-word reminders for each category and hang it in the family dining area. Hope that helps!

  2. This is great; I think we’ll start tonight!

One thing that we already do at supper is gratefuls. We take turns and each person says at least one thing that they’re grateful for from that day. Sometimes there’s only one thing, but sometimes there are lots of things. It’s another way to rehash good things from the day.

    1. Love that, Jessica! We do gratefuls at dinnertime too. <3 Such a great way to end the day!
